One Person at a Time

I LOVE this video because:
1. I love how they helped a man see the potential in himself by just giving him a push physically, which in turn helped him change his lifestyle. How simple was all of that? And he’s a changed man today.

2. The story this video tells makes me want to make stuff like this. By doing this through this medium, they are pushing people to do something similar in order to help others. Because it’s not about us getting credit, it’s about us telling a compelling story – something that works in the hearts of the viewer in order to change the world one person at a time.

3. The best part of this whole thing is when the man sees himself for the first time in the mirror. Brings tears to my eyes every. single. time.

Love it.

–Additional Note:

After looking up the people who did this “transformation,” I found that they (Dégagé Ministries) is a christian organization that specifically ministers to homeless veterans. How awesome.

Changing the Homeless Apparel..

In a world that has become increasingly more morally bankrupt as the years go by, there is one thing that has gotten much better: Our awareness of poverty and bullying. These two things lead to people, Christians, and non Christians alike to learn the value of two words: love people. Of course everyone sees this differently and may or may put the act of “loving people” in the same manner. But lately people have been talking much about changing the lifestyle of the impoverished in the world and also treating the “cool kids” and the “uncool kids” the same – with love and kindness.

The CEO of Abercrombie and Fitch does not feel this way. They don’t make XL or XXL clothing because they do not want fat people to wear their brand. Also when clothing gets damaged they do not donate it, they burn it. The CEO says they are very exclusionary.

So this guy makes a video about trying to change Abercrombie’s thinking. Take a look. He’s pretty funny but more than that he has a great idea. Also what did it take for him to start changing the world a little bit at a time? Maybe like 30 bucks at a Thrift Shop, a camera, and a Youtube account to upload this video… It can be done. World Change can happen one person at a time.

Take a look.

Leave Nothing

This Nike Commercial came out before the Superbowl in 2009, my senior year of High School. I was reminded of it as I was reading my broadcast books, in preparation for this summer, and I just love it. It’s inspiring but also a great example of how production quality and symbolism is huge.

Observe how it follows the lives of two football players. They are each always running in the same direction, toward each other. In every clip the same guy is facing the right and then the other guy is facing the left. This happens until the build up where they finally meet in a football game. It’s great. I’m obsessed with this kind of production. 🙂 Enjoy!
